Little moments with Lou...

Today is Shrove Tuesday, or as I still call it, Pancake Day.
I love living here in Australia, but this is one English tradition that has always stayed with me. No matter how busy life gets, once a year I like to stop and make proper English-style pancakes (the large, thin ones that get rolled up with caster sugar and lemon juice - yum)
Today was one of those full days: managing the branch at the commercial printers, meeting with a family to begin planning a funeral, and knowing there would be scripts to write later tonight. But for an hour and a half this evening, I was pumping out the pancakes like a production line!
Some of my family still prefer the American style, but I’m proud to say I’ve managed to convert half of them to the English way. There’s something about that simple taste that feels like home.
It’s funny how these small traditions travel with us. Even after all these years in Australia, things like Pancake Day, or a good old jacket potato loaded with butter and cheese, keep a little piece of where I came from alive.
Sometimes it’s the simplest rituals that ground us.
